Up-close and ‘making of’ documentary to be broadcast on Dutch TV

Listeners interested in the evening performance of Up-Close at the ‘s-Hertogenbosch November Music Festival on 11th November may like to know that at lunchtime on the same day NTR Podium, a specialist music and dance programme of Dutch national TV, will broadcast a documentary about the making of the piece. The film-maker Claire Pijman followed the production throughout its 2011 European Concert Hall Organisation tour, and her 30-minute film includes interviews with cello soloist Sol Gabetta, artistic director Candida Thompson and composer and director Michel van der Aa.

On 19 November, from five to midnight, NTR Podium will broadcast a recording of the complete work, taken from the Disquiet Media DVD recording featuring Gabetta and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta.
