Miles away is an intimate work set to a poem by the British Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy. The 7 minute piece was written for the mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn and violinist Janine Jansen and commissioned by the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht.
Miles away is the third part of the For the time being song cycle.
